Jaroslav Koton has been elected as the candidate for appointment as the dean of FEEC BUT
The term of the current FEEC leadership ends in January 2026. In view of this date, the Academic Senate announced the election of a candidate for appointment as dean for the upcoming term, February 2026 – January 2030. Two candidates ran for the position: Jaroslav Koton and Tomáš Kratochvíl. At its meeting on 9 December, the senators decided in a secret ballot and elected Jaroslav Koton, who received 11 votes from the 19 senators present. The elected candidate must still be formally appointed by the Rector of Brno University of Technology.
Prof. Ing. Jaroslav Koton, Ph.D., has been part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication for more than twenty years. He currently serves as Vice-Dean for Creative Activities and acts as the statutory deputy of the dean. As a professor at the Department of Telecommunications, he has long been active in the academic environment. An interesting aspect of his background is that, in addition to his technical education, he also studied Viticulture and Enology at Mendel University in Brno.
In the field of science and education, he has participated in numerous basic and applied research projects and has supervised dozens of students in their professional development. He is the author of more than 140 publications (over 60 in impact-factor journals), which have received more than 1,500 citations. His teaching focuses primarily on modern network technologies and information security.
As the elected dean, he aims to make FEEC the first choice for applicants and partners. His goals include strengthening the faculty’s position, creating a welcoming environment for study and work, intensifying cooperation with industry to provide students with real-world experience, enhancing international collaboration with direct benefits for the faculty, and using the reaccreditation process to modernize and streamline teaching.
