FEKTTeams 2025: the second eddition confirmed the strength of student innovation
Before Christmas, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies (FEEC) at Brno University of Technology organized the second edition of the FEKTTeams competition, whose aim is to motivate students to engage in their own development and innovation activities already during their studies. The competition supports the development of original ideas, teamwork, and their progression toward practical or commercial application with the support of mentors from among FEEC BUT staff.
A total of 11 teams participated in FEKTTeams 2025, representing 38 students. The competition had an interdisciplinary character—among the participants were also 9 students from other faculties of Brno University of Technology. One of the winners of the previous year, the DeltaBot team, also received the opportunity in 2025 to further develop its project, including financial support, and presented progress in the implementation and development of its original idea outside the main competition.

Expert Jury
The chair of the jury was Vice-Dean for Creative Activities Jaroslav Koton. Other members of the expert jury included JUDr. Libor Vašíček, MBA (Legal Partners), Professor Lubomír Grmela (Institute of Physics), Associate Professor Petr Sedlák (Institute of Physics), and Associate Professor Pavel Škrabánek (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering). The jury consisted of representatives from both academia and the applied sector, which contributed to a balanced evaluation of the technical level, innovativeness, and application potential of the projects.
The FEKTTeams competition develops students’ technical, project, and presentation skills and creates space for the emergence of projects with real application and innovation potential. At the same time, it strengthens interdisciplinary cooperation and connects education with research and practice.
