The 6th year of the BUT Student Entrepreneurship Award competition starts!
Are you entrepreneurial? Do you have an idea or an innovative thought? Bring your idea to life! The Rector of Brno University of Technology has announced the 6th edition of the BUT Student Entrepreneurship Award!, a competition that fosters entrepreneurial interest among students of BUT. Registration opened today, April 29, and will run until May 28.

The aim of the BUT Student Entrepreneurship Award!, part of the "Go to Business!" project, is to support innovative ideas with business potential and motivate students to bring them to life. The competition connects students' technological ideas and innovations with practical business skills necessary for a startup to grow. It also offers the opportunity to validate projects in practice under the guidance of mentors from BUT and the South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC), allowing students to gain valuable entrepreneurial experience.
The competition is open to all students of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs who are not afraid of challenges and are interested in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. You don't need to have a perfect business plan from the beginning — an idea and determination are enough. The winning ideas in the second and third rounds will receive financial support to help them realize their projects. Up to CZK 800,000 will be distributed among the top ten rated ideas.
This new edition of the competition aims for a stronger connection between academic studies and real business potential, focusing more on technological and innovative ideas. The organizers have also simplified the registration form for the 1st stage, lowering the barrier for those working on a technological idea without prior knowledge of business aspects. According to Michaela Indruchová, who, along with the BUT and JIC teams, has been behind the BUT Student Entrepreneurship Award since its first year, innovation can be seen not only in products but also in services and business models.
In the previous edition of the competition, more than thirty inspiring projects were presented. In the final fight for the top spots, seven of them made it through. First place was awarded to the OneCalend project by Vojtěch Oravec from the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), focusing on an efficient time management tool. Second place went to Matyáš Krejza from the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) with his project Věrka, offering a loyalty service system for small businesses. Third place was secured by Tomáš Vodička from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FSI) with his Rotating Hookah project, providing an easier technical solution for handling a hookah.
