We welcomed representatives of KINGS and strengthened Czech–Korean cooperation in nuclear energy
On 10 February 2026, representatives of the Korean university KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS), led by Professor Kim Juyoul, visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication at Brno University of Technology (FEEC BUT). The main highlight of the visit was the formal confirmation of the opening of the Czech-Korean Nuclear Cooperation Centre (NCC) office directly at the faculty.

The Czech-Korean Nuclear Cooperation Centre (NCC) has already been operating actively; this step therefore confirmed its institutional anchoring at FEKT BUT. The Centre will oversee incoming and outgoing student mobility between BUT and KINGS, exchange stays, the involvement of visiting professors at both universities, and coordinate additional professional and educational activities. The visit also included working meetings during which specific priorities and cooperation topics for this year were discussed.
A new impulse thanks to the Nuclear Energy programme
The establishment and development of the Centre are closely linked to the launch of the two-year industry-oriented Master’s programme in Nuclear Energy at FEKT BUT.
Within the NCC framework, the following activities are planned in particular:
-
organization of exchange stays and internships for Czech students at Korean universities and companies,
-
organization of winter and summer schools in the Czech Republic and Korea,
-
expert lectures focused, for example, on APR reactor technologies, management in the nuclear industry, and nuclear and radiation safety.
Cooperation with KINGS is long-term in nature – every year, several students participate, and the number of exchange programme alumni has already reached dozens.
In the context of the planned completion of new units at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant and the growing need for qualified professionals in nuclear energy, further strengthening of this Czech–Korean cooperation is expected.
