The Bachelor's programme Electrical Engineering (BPA-ELE) is accessible to applicants who hold a certificate of secondary education.

The minimum number of students required for the BPA-ELE classes to open amounts to one (1); however, if less than six (6) persons have registered, the instruction will be delivered in the form of guided study.

Tuition fees, concessions, and living expenses

The fees are established through the provisions of Section 58 (4), Act No. 111/1998 Coll. and further specified by decision of the Rector of Brno University of Technology (BUT).

The tuition fee per year relevant to the given study programme in English is EUR 1,000 (valid from the academic year 2023–2024).

Fee concessions of up to EUR 1,500 per year for a student who earned not less than 45 credit points in the course of the previous academic year; the concrete scholarship amounts shall be tiered according to the applicant’s weighted grade point average; the overall grade point average is lower than 1.50; for other details, see Scholarship. .

Accommodation is available at the university’s halls of residence (at approximately EUR 120/month); alternatively, the students may rent a private or semi-private apartment (approx. EUR 200/month). In general terms, the expenses for housing, utilities, food, books, medical insurance, and incidentals vary widely, depending on the person’s marital status, quality of life expectations, and housing preferences. The price of a lunch, for example, is EUR 5 – 10, with the total monthly living expenses ranging between EUR 300 and 600.

Students in this Bachelor's programme have to pay the yearly tuition fee of EUR 1,000, into the faculty’s bank account. The corresponding data are as follows:

Admission procedures

  • How to apply

    The procedures begin with the submission of an electronic application form. After being filled in, the document has to be printed, signed, and sent out by post (preferably a registered postal service) to the FEEC BUT, including the required attachments.

    An application will be considered only if the appropriate processing fee of EUR 30 has been paid.

    When applying, proceed as follows:

    • Choose a study programme.
    • Fill in the application form
    • Pay the processing fee of EUR 30 (you will receive the details after submitting the application) and send out the signed form, together with all relevant required documents, to the FEEC.

    The application and processing fee payment deadline is March 31; the required documents to accompany the application form are specifying below..

  • What are the required documents?

    • A certificate of secondary education,
    • A certificate of recognition (nostrifikační doložka) to validate foreign education and qualifications, if applicable.

    These records (namely, their official hard copies) are obtainable from the competent regional authority and must be delivered to the FEEC in Czech or English, not later than April 15.

    Where the applicant cannot provide a certificate of recognition, they are allowed to submit, before or on April 15 and at the fee of CZK 750 or 32 EUR, a request for the assessment of education compatibility.

    If, for any reason, the documents specified above are not deliverable to the FEEC within the deadline, the applicant may seek an extension, via a well-substantiated request to be submitted before or on April 15.

  • How is the entrance exam organized?

    After completing the requirements, the applicants will be invited to participate in the entrance examination. Important terms and conditions are outlined in the corresponding Dean's directive.

    The concrete date and time will be communicated to the applicants at least a month prior to the examination. An alternate term can be granted only if health issues or other serious problems occur. An applicant will be entitled to request such an exemption only once, and participating in another entrance exam held elsewhere at the same time will not be considered an excuse for absence. An appropriate excuse letter, completed with a doctor’s note or a similar slip of proof, must be submitted the day after the regular date of the exam.

  • Content and evaluation of the entrance exam

    The applicants are invited to take the written knowledge test and to attend the English language competence assessment session, as specified in the relevant Dean's directive.

    The applicants' performance is to be evaluated immediately after the end of the exam, and an authorized member of academic staff will guarantee that the entire process is standard and correct.

    Following the completion of the procedures, the results will appear in the participants’ e-application tables.

    The final decision letter will be sent to the candidates via a registered postal service within 1 month of the date of the exam.

  • Can anyone be exempted?

    A candidate may avoid the admission procedures if he or she has a record of excellent learning results. The application form must be submitted in writing by April 15 of the given year and accompanied by the following documents in English:

    • a letter of motivation;
    • final study reports of the previous four school years (including a list of all subjects with the scores and/or marks); the materials should be letter-headed and stamped or signed at the applicant’s former school);
    • certified copies of an IELTS, TOEFL, SAT or equivalent certificate.

    The exam may be conducted via videoconferencing.

    Any entrance exam waivers, as well as the actual form of the tests and interviews, will be decided on by the Dean, upon recommendation by the admissions committee. The applicant will be informed of the decision not later than one month before the date of the entrance examination.

  • Tuition fees deadline

    The tuition fees are to be paid into the bank account of the FEEC.

    The proof of payment must be delivered to the FEEC by September 1 of the given year (for the first round of the entrance examination).

  • Enrollment

    The enrollment instructions will be communicated via e-mail before the end of June; the schedule of classes, together with other study-related information, will be released through the Faculty website.
