FEEC Hosted the Regional Round of the Logic Olympiad

On Friday, November 7, 2025, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication (FEEC) at Brno University of Technology hosted the regional round of the 18th annual Logic Olympiad, organized by Mensa Czech Republic.

At FEEC, the event was organized under the leadership of Karel Juřík from the Department of Theoretical and Experimental Electrical Engineering, who has been involved in the competition for several years. “The Logic Olympiad differs from other subject-based competitions because it doesn’t test knowledge, but logical reasoning and creativity. It helps discover talented students who might not yet excel in school but have great potential. For me, the opportunity to help such students shine is the biggest motivation,” said Karel Juřík

A total of 150 pupils and students from elementary and secondary schools in the South Moravian Region advanced to the regional round, having succeeded in the online preliminary round among more than 111,000 participants from across the Czech Republic. The competition traditionally tested logical, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.

Categories and Winners

Category A (Primary Schools)
1st place – Eduard Tvardek, ZŠ Husova, Brno
2nd place – Šimon Svoboda, ZŠ a MŠ Křídlovická, Brno
3rd place – Albert Malý, ZŠ Úvoz, Brno

Category B (Lower Secondary Schools and Corresponding Grades of Grammar Schools)
1st place – Martin Sedláček, Cyrilometodějské gymnázium a SOŠ pedagogická, Brno
2nd place – Antonín Pomikálek, Gymnázium třídy kapitána Jaroše, Brno
3rd place – Vojtěch Vítek, Gymnázium Matyáše Lercha, Brno

Category C (Secondary Schools)
All top three places were taken by students from Gymnázium třídy kapitána Jaroše, Brno:
1st place – Martin Bryja
2nd place – Vojtěch Macek
3rd place – Otakar Vítek

Participants were welcomed and awards were presented by Tomáš Kratochvíl, Vice-Dean for External Relations at FEEC. The winners of the regional round will advance to the national finals, which will take place on December 8, 2025, in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

Congratulations to all the winners! We also believe that other participants took away inspiration and new enthusiasm for exploring the world of logic.
Perhaps their participation in the Logic Olympiad will spark a lifelong journey into technology, science, and discovery.
